■縄文土器(じょうもんどき)を作ります
Creating Jomon Pottery[pottery vessels]

○単元：日本の焼き物/Unit: Japanese Art - Ceramics
○授業計画：縄文式土器（じょうもんしきどき）/Lesson Plan: Jomon Pottery[pottery vessels]
○学年：４年生/Grade Level: 4th Grade

1.縄文式土器についてIntroduction:about straw-rope patterned pottery
縄文はひもを意味して、そこでこの土器は回転したひもの装飾です。
Jomon means twisted cord, so this is the pottery made with twisted cord decoration.
縄文式土器（じょうもんしきどき）は、北海道から沖縄諸島を含む現在でいう日本列島各地で縄文時代に作られた土器である。
The pottery vessels crafted in Ancient Japan during the Jomon period are generally accepted to be the oldest pottery vessels in the world.
縄文 時代に古代日本で作られた陶器は世界中で最も古い陶器であると一般に言われています。

2.手順Procedure:
・スケッチブック： 縄文土器 デザインを勉強した後で、パターンのいくつかの写真をさがして、一連のスケッチをしてください。
Sketchbook Assignment: After studying Jomon Pottery designs, find some pictures of twisted pattern and do a series of drawings to the of rope shape.
4年生<4th Grade>
準備・材料/Preparation，Materials:
　○テラコッタ粘土 clay (terra-cotta clay) 1.2㎏
　○粘土板、延べ棒、粘土べらmodeling tools
　○ぬらしたぞうきんwet dustcloth
　○縄文wisted cord　
1.粘土のゴルフボールの大きさ作品を取って、そしてやわらかなハンバーガーを形づくってください。(底）
1.Pull off a golf ball size piece of clay and Shape a smooth hamburger.
*およそ１の㎝が厚さがあるべきです。
It should be about 1㎝ thick.
*表面上にひびがでるほどあまり伸ばさないでください。
Try not to handle it so much that it starts to get cracks on the surface.

If this happens, wipe that piece of clay with a wet dustcloth. 		2.別のゴルフボール大の粘土のかたまりを取ってください。 そのボールを、やさしい圧力で、親指ぐらいの粘土のひもにするために転がしてください。
2.Pull off another golf ball size lump of clay. Form it into a ball, then, using gentle pressure, roll it to make it into a rope of clay. Nothing should be thicker than your thumb.
Make a clay coil.
 3.底に接着粘土（柔らかい粘土：ドベ）を必要とします。

７．土器がおよそ１０の㎝高さであるとき、上のはしをきれいにして、そしてねじれたひも飾りを付けてください。
7.When the pottery is about 10㎝ height, smooth the top edge and decorate with twisted cord.

９. 余った粘土で箸置きをつくりましょう。
9.Make a lovely chopstick rest from remaining clay.
陶器 は、ゆっくりと完全に乾かされるべきです。それから焼成されます。*The Pottery Vesseis should be allowed to dry slowly, but thoroughly, then fired.
